Projek SAMA recently commissioned our first quarterly survey on Ethnic Relation in West Malaysia, conducted by pollster Invoke.
Instead of relying on anecdotal evidence or unverified assumptions, we believe systematic, consistent and transparent data collection on public sentiments on issues related to or impacting ethnic relations would allow monitoring of ethnic relations over time and assist in public policy-making.
The survey interviewed 611 participants from different ethnic groups on questions like stereotypical prejudices; cross-ethnic social network; free speech, hate speech and violence related to 3R; global politics; state partiality; Islam and multiculturalism; parties’ position on dress code, gender segregation, halal, alcohol and gambling.
The survey findings were released on 13 November 2024.
Projek SAMA advocates for transparency and openness, thus, the survey interview scripts and the datasets are open as common property and can be found here.
